Ten Personalities, One Social Media

Twitter is used by many around the world. That's why many artist promote their work through this one site. For this weeks assignment the ten companies/artist that I choose to analysis their self promotion were, Khalid, Migos, MGMT, Rupi Kaur, Stephen King, Disney, Logic, Gerg Berlanti, Mitch Albom, and John Mayer. For stories/ movies, Gerg Berlanti, Stephen King, Disney, and Mitch Albom, all used a similar style of visual promotion. Although Stephen King, and Gerg Berlanti added personal touches. Such as saying how much work went into their productions which adds and pathos affect, making their work more authentic. While Disney and Mitch Albom simply stated that their work will be coming out soon.Stephen kings brand being more mysterious about his work while Gerg Berlanti uses a praise for his brand. Although Mitch Albom does add a sense humor to his advertisement vey saying "Taps the mic" before he announces his new book. This makes his work seem more authentic than how Disney just states, "watch the new avengers trailer." Khalid, John Mayer, MGMT and Rupi Kaur, all have authentic promotions because of how their tweets are worded. Khalid states how his album changed his life, which once again adds a pathos effect to his work. By added this personal message, it might make the person viewing this promotion consider how good this album must of been to change his life. Which then creates a trickle effect of them listening to it. Rupi Kaur does the same thing by added a poetic statement in her tweet when promoting her new poetry book. This gives the viewer a sneak peak of what her work might read like. John Mayer doesn't directly state that he is going on tour, instead he post a picture of the schedule for his tour and uses sarcasm by saying "a handy reference sheet" which entices the viewer to look at this reference sheet. MGMT also promotes their album with a visual and but most importantly they state what songs to listen to first. This makes it authentic because they are telling their fans what they think is their best work on this album. Meanwhile there is the more simple side to promotions, such as Logic and Migos. These artist simply state that their music is out with links to their albums for their fans. Although this is simple, it still gets their point across to listen to their music. From analyzing these promotions, I can conclude that there are many different brands on social media. But once and artist has a brand, they tend to stick to it.
