Through the use of logical fallacies, Direct TV attempts to attract customer's. Direct TV uses the post hoc or false cause fallacies. This can be determined by the order of the commercial. The advertisement first starts off with a man getting aggravated because he is on hold with his cable company. This specific event causes a series of unfortunate events. He then gets hit in the eye with a ball, has to wear an eyepatch, and then gets chased after by a gang. All of these events happen because he hasn't switched over to Direct TV. The commercial is trying to show that since this individual has cable TV all these negative events will happen to him, as well as others who have cable TV. They are trying to reach out to viewers by showing an example of an average guy and saying "this could happen to you" which is a ridiculous assumption. Direct TV continues to use the post hoc or false cause fallacies to attract their customers through different commericals. Although if one owns cable TV, there is a very low percentage that every bad situation happens because of it. Direct TV is falsely assuming that because someone doesn't have Direct TV all of these events will happen to them. Moral of the commercial is he should of got rid of his cable.
